ArcelorMittal Temirtau JSC, now known as Qarmet, is a Kazakhstani integrated steel and mining company that operates the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant in Temirtau, the largest steel plant in Kazakhstan. The corporate entity was founded in 1995 when Ispat International acquired the Karaganda Metallurgical Plant, and it operated under the ArcelorMittal group from 2007 until December 2023, when ArcelorMittal sold the operations to the Qazaqstan Investment Corporation and the company was renamed Qarmet. It is divided into three departments covering steel, coal, and iron ore, with an annual crude steel capacity of around 4 million tons and products sold to more than 40 countries worldwide. Its product range includes slabs, long products, hot-rolled and cold-rolled coils and sheets, hot-dip galvanized and polymer-coated steel, white tinplate, small diameter pipes, and square billet.
